5000kg Heavy-Duty Ratchet Straps

Buy 5000kg ratchet straps from MDI Trade for professional heavy-duty load restraint. Often searched for as 5 tonne ratchet straps, these products must be selected using their LC rating and complete specification rather than treating 5 tonnes as a permissible load weight. Our range includes complete 50mm ratchet-strap assemblies, endless straps, ergonomic ratchets and replacement strap components for haulage, logistics, construction and industrial applications.

Complete 5000kg assemblies have a 5000kg break force when new and an LC 2500 daN lashing capacity. Different lengths, colours and end fittings are available, allowing you to select a strap suited to the load, approved anchorage points and operating environment.

  • 5000kg break force when new
  • LC 2500 daN lashing capacity on complete rated assemblies
  • Heavy-duty 50mm polyester webbing
  • Double J hooks, chassis hooks, D rings and looped ends

5000kg Ratchet Straps for Professional Load Restraint

5000kg ratchet straps are designed for demanding load-restraint applications where a higher-capacity strap is required. They are commonly selected for commercial vehicles, trailers, construction equipment, machinery, freight and other substantial loads.

These straps use wider 50mm webbing and a heavy-duty ratchet mechanism to provide controlled tension. The correct assembly depends on the load, method of restraint, available anchorage points and the length and type of journey.

Always select a strap using its stated lashing capacity and complete specification. The 5000kg break force must not be treated as the permissible weight of the load being secured.

Choose the Correct 5000kg Ratchet Strap

5000kg Ratchet Straps with Double J Hooks

Double J hooks provide a secure connection to compatible vehicle and trailer anchorage points. They are a widely used option for professional transport and general heavy-duty load restraint.

5000kg Endless Ratchet Straps

Endless ratchet straps form a continuous loop around the load and do not use separate end hooks. They are suitable for bundling or compressing appropriate loads where a hook-ended assembly is unnecessary.

Ergonomic Ratchet Straps

Ergonomic ratchet mechanisms are intended to provide comfortable and controlled tensioning, particularly for drivers and operators who use load-restraint equipment regularly.

High-Visibility Ratchet Straps

High-visibility yellow and orange webbing makes the strap easier to identify around vehicles, loading areas and busy commercial environments. It can also help businesses distinguish straps by use, vehicle or load type.

Alternative End Fittings

The MDI Trade range also includes chassis hooks, D rings, twisted snap hooks and looped ends. The correct fitting must be compatible with the intended anchorage point and method of restraint.

5000kg Break Force and LC 2500 daN Explained

Break force and lashing capacity describe different aspects of a ratchet strap’s performance.

Break force is the force at which a new complete strap assembly is expected to fail under test. For these complete rated assemblies, the stated break force is 5000kg.

Lashing capacity is the maximum permitted force for the complete strap assembly when used for load restraint. The corresponding rating is LC 2500 daN.

Do not select a ratchet strap solely by comparing its break force or lashing capacity with the weight of the load. Load restraint also depends on factors including friction, load shape, restraint method, direction of movement, vehicle configuration and the number and angle of straps used.

Common Uses for 5000kg Ratchet Straps

5000kg heavy-duty ratchet straps are commonly used for:

  • Commercial haulage and freight
  • Securing machinery and industrial equipment
  • Construction materials and site equipment
  • Large palletised or packaged loads
  • Trailers and commercial vehicles
  • Heavy-duty logistics and distribution
  • Bundling suitable loads with endless straps

The suitability of a particular strap must always be confirmed against the complete product specification and the requirements of the load, vehicle and journey.

Strap Lengths and Fittings

Choose a strap long enough to pass over or around the load and reach the approved anchorage points without leaving excessive loose webbing. Available lengths vary by product and fitting, so check the individual product page before ordering.

For attachment to approved anchorage points, choose a compatible hooked or fitted assembly. For appropriate bundling applications, an endless ratchet strap may be more suitable.

Ratchet-Strap Inspection and Safety

Inspect each ratchet strap before use. Do not use a strap if the webbing is cut, heavily worn, chemically damaged or distorted, or if the ratchet mechanism or end fittings are bent, cracked, badly corroded or otherwise defective.

Ratchet straps are intended for load restraint and must not be used for lifting. Do not knot the webbing, use damaged anchorage points or exceed the rating shown on the sewn product label.

Complete rated assemblies should be used in accordance with their product label, applicable load-restraint requirements and BS EN 12195-2:2001.

Complete Straps and Replacement Components

This category includes complete 5000kg ratchet-strap assemblies as well as selected ratchet ends, long ends and other replacement components. A replacement component does not necessarily constitute a complete rated assembly by itself.

Check each product title and specification carefully to confirm whether you are ordering a complete ratchet strap or an individual component.
