Stainless Steel Ratchet Straps for Demanding Environments

MDI Trade supplies stainless steel ratchet straps for securing suitable loads in environments where resistance to moisture and corrosion is important. Our range combines durable 50mm black polyester webbing with a stainless steel ratchet mechanism and is available with either double J hooks or an endless configuration.

These complete strap assemblies have a 3000kg break force and an LC 1500 daN lashing capacity. They are manufactured to BS EN 12195-2:2001 for load restraint applications and are available in a selection of webbing lengths.

  • 3000kg break force when new
  • LC 1500 daN lashing capacity when new
  • 50mm black polyester webbing
  • Stainless steel ratchet mechanism
  • Choice of double J hooks or an endless design
  • Multiple webbing lengths available
  • Suitable for load restraint in wet, outdoor and corrosive environments
  • Manufactured to BS EN 12195-2:2001

Choose Your Stainless Steel Ratchet Strap

3000kg Stainless Steel Ratchet Strap with Double J Hooks

This complete 50mm ratchet-strap assembly uses double J hooks to connect the strap to suitable vehicle or trailer anchorage points. It is appropriate where the load-restraint arrangement requires a separate fitting at each end of the strap.

The stainless steel ratchet mechanism provides improved corrosion resistance compared with a standard plated-steel mechanism, while the black polyester webbing provides a strong and durable restraint system. Check the available lengths and full specification on the individual product page before ordering.

3000kg Stainless Steel Endless Ratchet Strap

The stainless steel endless ratchet strap has no separate end hooks. Instead, its 50mm webbing passes around the load and feeds back through the ratchet to form a continuous loop.

This configuration can be useful for bundling, unitising and restraining suitable items where external anchorage hooks are unnecessary. An endless strap should only be used where looping the webbing around the load is an appropriate restraint method.

Hooked or Endless Stainless Steel Ratchet Straps?

The correct configuration depends on the load, vehicle and available anchorage arrangement.

  • Choose double J hooks when the strap must connect to appropriate anchorage points on a vehicle, trailer or load-restraint system.
  • Choose an endless strap when the webbing needs to form a continuous loop around the item being secured and separate anchorage hooks are not required.

Always check that the anchorage points, fittings, webbing length and proposed restraint method are suitable for the load and journey. If neither configuration is appropriate, browse our complete ratchet-strap range for alternative capacities, colours and end fittings.

Where Are Stainless Steel Ratchet Straps Used?

Stainless steel ratchet mechanisms can be useful where standard metal components would be regularly exposed to moisture, weather or other demanding conditions. Typical applications may include:

  • Marine and boating environments
  • Coastal transport and storage
  • Outdoor equipment and machinery
  • Trailers and commercial vehicles
  • Construction and industrial environments
  • Warehousing and logistics operations
  • Securing pallets and suitable packaged loads

Suitability always depends on the complete product specification and the conditions in which the strap will be used. Stainless steel provides enhanced corrosion resistance, but it does not remove the need for inspection, cleaning, correct storage and replacement when damage or deterioration is found.

Break Force and Lashing Capacity

Break force and lashing capacity are different measurements. The 3000kg break force describes the force at which a new complete strap assembly is expected to fail under test. The LC 1500 daN marking states the lashing capacity of the complete assembly.

Do not select a ratchet strap by comparing its break force directly with the weight of the load. The number and arrangement of straps required depend on factors including the restraint method, load characteristics, friction, anchorage points, vehicle and journey.

Always check the sewn-in product label and full specification before use. Never exceed the stated lashing capacity.

Available Stainless Steel Ratchet-Strap Lengths

Individual products are available in several webbing lengths. Choose a strap long enough to pass over or around the load and reach the intended anchorage points without leaving an excessive amount of loose webbing.

The correct length depends on the dimensions of the load and whether a hooked or endless configuration is being used. Available variations and current prices are shown on each product page.

Care and Inspection

Inspect the entire strap before every use, including the webbing, stitching, ratchet mechanism and any hooks or end fittings. Do not use the strap if you find:

  • Cuts, tears, fraying or excessive wear in the webbing
  • Damaged, loose or broken stitching
  • Bent, cracked or distorted hooks or fittings
  • A damaged or poorly operating ratchet mechanism
  • Chemical, heat or abrasion damage
  • Heavy contamination or deterioration
  • A missing or unreadable identification label

After exposure to salt, dirt or other contaminants, clean and dry the strap in accordance with the product requirements before storing it. Store ratchet straps in a clean, dry location away from sharp objects, chemicals, excessive heat and prolonged ultraviolet exposure.

Ratchet straps are designed for load restraint and must never be used for lifting, towing or suspending a load.
